We love weddings, and we love brides! Monroe & Bardot specializes in airbrush wedding makeup. It was how Lauren started her business and the inspiration for the additional beauty services we currently offer. Read through the information below and don't hesitate to call, text or email if you have any questions!
Why hire a professional makeup artist? The most difficult things for non-professionals to master is how to get makeup to last 12+ hours without looking heavy and how to apply makeup so that it looks amazing in pictures yet not over-done in person- we've got it down to a science. Plus, you want to be pampered on your wedding day, and you want to look like the absolute hottest version of yourself. You've invested so much on your dress, the photographer, videographer and venue- why settle for less when it comes to your skin and face?
Where did you learn to apply makeup?
I have always been artsy and loved drawing and painting. In college my passion for makeup started to develop and I began to apply it on others. The satisfaction of the before and after, and making others feel more beautiful and confident was addictive to me. I began doing makeup for weddings and started taking workshops at MAC Pro in New York, eventually getting trained in airbrush makeup there in 2011.
How long will the eyelashes last?
For weddings we use strip lashes and temporary glue, so they will last the day, but no more. To remove them you will want to gently pull from the outer corner or use makeup remover and a cotton pad to wipe gently until they slide off.
When should I schedule my trial?
We recommend scheduling your trial 4-6 weeks before your wedding, however that is totally up to you. We find that if brides schedule too early elements of the wedding or their desired look may change. However some like to schedule as soon as they book us to check it off their list, and we totally get that!

What brands of products do you use?
So so many different brands. I am constantly trying new products and if they beat out my current favorite, or have a new use or application then it makes it into my kit. My kit has a lot of MAC, MAC Pro, Makeup Forever, Tarte, Urban Decay, Lorac, Anastasia, Nars and even a few drugstore products.
What if I don't want my makeup to look dramatic, I don't usually wear makeup?
We consult with each client individually to determine what look they are going for and how they will feel most comfortable and look their best. We want you to be recognizable (unless you want to look totally different) and won't try to pressure you into anything you aren't ready for (except false lashes... they're amazing... please?!).
What if I want to do a trial run to decide if I want to book you for my wedding?
That's totally ok! Most of our clients are referred to us, or know they want to book us by looking at our work or reading reviews. If you are still unsure or feel more comfortable waiting until after the trial we will get your trial scheduled as soon as possible. The only way to reserve your date is by completing a contract and paying a deposit. so if someone calls and is ready to book before your trail run your date may be taken. It is rare that this would happen, but we want to be clear about the policy and the process.
How will I touch-up my lips or face? Can I get those products from you?
We suggest that our brides have blotting paper or blot powder on hand in case they get oily or sweaty. The warm weather months are popular for weddings and it can get quite hot and humid. We will not pressure you into purchasing products but are happy to get them for you and pass along a discount for oil control and lip products.
Do you do airbrush makeup? Is it really all that?
Yes and yes. We do, and it really is. We use MAC Pro Airbrush formula for foundation and a special effects line of Temptu for tattoo cover (or placement!) Airbrush makeup is waterproof and transferproof and it lasts longer without feeling heavy on the skin.
What is included in the trial run?
Your trial will take between 45 and 90 minutes depending on how much we chat, mostly. We'll discuss your everyday makeup, the details and style of your wedding and what look you are going for on the big day. Then we will do a full makeup application complete with false lashes and make any tweaks neccesary before I take detailed notes so that I can re-create it the day of. If your mother or bridesmaids would like a trial as well we can schedule it for the same time or another time at their convenience.
Do you travel? If so, how far? Do you charge a fee?
We do travel, and find that brides who let the professionals come to them seem more relaxed on their big day. We will travel as far as you need us to and our schedule allows. We do not charge a travel fee for locations 20 miles or less from 21015. Depending on the distance there may be a hotel/ overnight fee in addition to the mileage fee.
How long will my makeup last?
Your makeup will last all day and night (yes, even if you are the first one to go at 8 am). The traditional foundation will last at least 12 hours, and the airbrush will last up to 20 hours. I have some brides who wear their makeup to brunch the next day. I had a bridemaid who had a bottle of champagne explode in her face in the limo and she still looked great at the wedding. You will likely have to touch up your lips throughout the event, and depending on your skin type, you msy want to carry blot paper or blotting powder to soak up oil.
What if I cry?
It's ok! Everything we use is either water resistant or waterproof and applied in such a way that it will not budge. Just blot (don't wipe, scratch or rub) with a tissue and you'll still look fab!
How soon should I book my wedding date?
We start booking weddings a year or more in advance, so the sooner the better!
What methods of payments do you accept?
We accept Cash, Check (made payable to Monroe & Bardot), and Credit Cards (3% fee will be added)!
What size party can you accomodate?
I have done up to 16 people before, but for parties of 10 or more, I would consider adding a second artist depending on time constraints. Sometimes smaller parties can require more than one artist if everyone needs to be ready early, or if a venue doesnt allow you to come until a set amount of time before the ceremony. We will work with you to evaluate this on a case by case basis.
Is your pricing negotiable?
Unfortunately no. We have done our best to keep our pricing as reasonable as possible, but when it comes to professional makeup services, you get what you pay for. The level of skill will exceed having your sister, another relative, friend or cosmetics salesperson from the mall do your makeup. We specialize in bridal beauty and come to you, prepared and committed to your timeline. Exceptional products, web services, liability insurance, gas, training, communication and correspondence, sterilization and countless other factors contribute to our pricing, and we want to give you the best value for your money.
What if I need to cancel?
We will do everything we can to re-book your date, and if we are able, we will refund your deposit. If we are unable to re-book your date the deposit will be forfeited.
I loved my wedding makeup, now what?
We are so grateful you hired us for your big day and trusted us with something so personal. We would be thrilled if you referred future brides to us, wrote a review on facebook, wedding wire, the knot or elsewhere. And even better yet- book a spray tan, eyelash extension or other appointment with us so that we can continue to see your gorgeous face!
